JOB DESCRIPTION 1

The tasks a Beauty Therapist is expected to perform include:

  • Performing various duties such as providing skin care, applying make-up, removal of unwanted hair and manicure and pedicure services

  • Providing advice about skincare and cosmetics

  • Working hours are 8/9 hours a day for 6 days a week. This may vary from salon to salon

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING 1

  • Preferably, 10th pass with the ability to read, write and communicate effectively on the job

  • Certified training for Beauty Therapist (programme aligned to BWS/Q0102 released by Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council)

 

KEY COMPETENCIES 1

  • Knowledge of the types of products, materials and equipment required for the treatment

  • Familiar with the process to sterilize and disinfect equipment/tools

  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for skin treatments

  • Skilled in principles and practice of skin therapies

  • Knowledge of basic ailments, contraindications, contra-actions, treatment plans, etc.

  • Knowledge of range and use of product available for facial treatment suitable for different skin types

  • Knowledge of types of equipment and products used for waxing

  • Skilled in removal of hair by threading on face and/or body

  • Knowledge of chemical compounds found in hair and beauty products

 

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES 1

  • Training as Assistant Beauty Therapist (Level 03) or equivalent skills, knowledge and experience

  • Training course in skincare services, depilation services, manicure and pedicure, make-up services, etc. 

  • Training course in cosmetics/beauty products

  • Training course in anatomy, physiology, circulation, muscles, skin, nails, etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Good hand-eye co-ordination

  • Customer-oriented
